Communities Create Change
2025 has been a year of strengthening our purpose.
In a world marked by growing uncertainty, we have been reminded that lasting change is created through long-term commitment, trusted partnerships, and a belief in people's potential.
Since the establishment of Grieg Foundation in 2002, our ambition has remained the same: to contribute to a more compassionate and inclusive society by investing in people. In 2025, we continued this commitment by supporting initiatives that expand opportunities for children and young people, improve women's health, strengthen communities through arts and culture, and contribute to a more sustainable future.
This year, we allocated more than NOK 65 million to 74 projects across Norway and internationally. Together, these initiatives reached almost 252,000 people.
Behind these numbers are children who rediscovered the joy of learning, young people who found safe communities where they belong, women who gained access to education and vocational training, families whose lives were transformed through healthcare, and communities brought together through music, art and culture.
Throughout the year we completed an extensive review of more than 300 projects supported during our previous five-year strategy period. Rather than simply looking back, the review helped us look forward. It gave us a clearer understanding of where we can create the greatest impact and how we can make that impact even stronger.
One insight stood out above all: opportunities are created through communities. Whether it is a classroom, a neighbourhood, a cultural venue or a local organisation, strong communities provide the relationships, trust and sense of belonging that enable people to grow, contribute and thrive.
Nationally, we therefore continue to invest in initiatives that bring people together, strengthen local communities and create environments where children and young people can discover their potential, build confidence and experience belonging. Together with our international long-standing partners we invest in education and vocational training that enable women and girls to shape their own futures and strengthen the communities around them.
Furthermore, several project visits reminded us that genuine impact begins with listening. Meeting the people behind every project gives us a deeper understanding of local needs, strengthens our partnerships and ensures that our support creates meaningful and lasting change.
We remain committed to creating opportunities, strengthening communities and investing in people—one partnership, one project and one person at a time.
