A tradition of giving back

For generations, my family has been faithful to this responsibility and contributed to a more compassionate society by giving back, by supporting humanitarian, social and cultural projects that create meaningful change for individuals and communities. We believe that local engagement sparks improvement in people’s lives. We empower visionaries, talents and organizations who have ideas and a strong sense of purpose and commitment.

Education, gender equality and equal rights are at the heart of our purpose. We believe education is the foundation for change. Music and culture transform and bring people together across generations and backgrounds. Health care and climate action are prerogatives. Social impact investment can bring people out of poverty through meaningful work. These are the pillars of our Foundation because these are areas where we believe our support can make a difference and create meaningful change.

I have completed my first full year as chair of the Board of Grieg Foundation and what a year it has been. The pandemic changed the world, the way we live, the way we interact and the way we work. Social isolation has led to higher survival rates, but it has also reminded us of how dependent we are upon each other, upon interaction and on community.

“I am because we are” echoes throughout the world.

We are proud and impressed by the way our partners have adjusted their projects and contributed through difficult times. Creating meaningful change is a team effort. We can all take part and make a difference. 2020 reminded us of how essential compassionate and caring societies are. Grieg Foundation is our commitment to a universal “I am because we are”. We are committed to continuing the legacy and tradition of giving back.
