Building Without Borders: Joaquín’s UWC Journey

When Joaquín arrived at UWC Costa Rica as part of the Class of 2021, he carried with him a deep curiosity and a dream to transform his life. Thanks to the Grieg scholarship, that dream didn’t just come true—it expanded beyond borders.

“This scholarship wasn’t just money,” Joaquín shares. “It was an opportunity to discover who I am and who I want to become.”

After graduation, Joaquín took an unconventional path. He didn’t go to university—instead, he followed his heart, traveled across continents, and dove headfirst into entrepreneurship. Today, he leads DigitNets, a software company based in Estonia, alongside a vibrant international team. Just two weeks ago, they signed their second $10,000/month client—a milestone that marks a new chapter of growth.

These connections, this global mindset… they’re at the core of everything I build,”

Inspired by the UWC mission, Joaquín also launched an international community in Lima, Peru, which now brings together over 5,000 members. “These connections, this global mindset… they’re at the core of everything I build,” he says.

Joaquín’s story powerfully illustrates the impact of UWC: young people crossing borders, forging connections between cultures, and crafting solutions that have the potential to change the world. He is one of many who carry UWC’s values for a lifetime.
