Who: Alltidhjelp.no

What: Mental health support for young people

Where: Norway

Project period: 2026

About the project

Alltidhjelp.no is a Norwegian non-profit initiative dedicated to providing low-threshold mental health support for young people. Founded on the belief that being heard can change a life, the project offers a free, anonymous, and always-available chat and phone service for youth in distress. Whether facing loneliness, anxiety, or crises of identity and belonging, young people can reach trained volunteers who listen without judgment and help them find calm, clarity, and hope.

In Norway, the need for accessible mental health support among youth has grown sharply in recent years. Many struggle in silence or face long waiting times for professional help. Alltidhjelp.no bridges that gap by being present —every day— with real human connection at the other end of the line.

Beyond direct support, Alltidhjelp.no works actively to raise awareness around mental health through school visits, public talks, and campaigns. In 2024, the organization conducted a national tour across Norway, meeting thousands of students and teachers to promote openness, empathy, and early intervention.

The 500,000 NOK grant from the Grieg Foundation will strengthen Alltidhjelp.no’s capacity to reach even more young people. The funding will go toward training new volunteers, improving digital infrastructure, and expanding outreach efforts to schools and rural communities.

At its heart, Alltidhjelp.no is about transforming the simple act of listening into a powerful tool for prevention. One conversation at a time, it helps young people realize they are never truly alone.

About the organization

Alltidhjelp.no is a Norwegian non-profit organization that offers free, anonymous, and always-available mental health support for young people aged 10 to 24. Through both chat- and phone services, trained volunteers provide a safe space for youth who need someone to talk to — whether they are experiencing loneliness, anxiety, relationship problems, or a personal crisis.

The organization’s mission is to ensure that no young person feels alone when life becomes difficult. In addition to direct one-to-one support, Alltidhjelp.no works proactively to strengthen mental health awareness by visiting schools, hosting public talks, and engaging with communities across Norway.

By being accessible, empathetic, and close to the realities young people face, Alltidhjelp.no helps create a culture of openness and care. One conversation at a time, it reminds youth that reaching out is a sign of strength — and that someone will always listen.
